The view from the lodge and all but one of the guestrooms is truly breathtaking. As you look westerly across the 40-mile long Moosehead Lake a sense of tranquility will definately follow. The Forks is a wilderness area with moose and deer by the roadside and osprey and eagles soaring overhead. Inn by The River brings you the comforts of home while you enjoy the out of doors. We have a total of ten spacious guestrooms. The rooms are individually decorated in a charming country style and each has a private bath. Some of the guestrooms have private screened porches and whirlpool tubs in the private baths. Our new Carriage House apartment will sleep up to 12 people. It has two bedrooms, each with two double beds; a futon couch in the living room; a full private bath; and a complete kitchen. In the first floor Great Room, you may enjoy relaxing in front of the stone fireplace while listening to the piano or sipping on a cocktail from our pub. Outside are gardens, many hiking trails, fish in the river, and mountain bike and snowmobile trails for you to explore. Upon guest request, we can arrange canoe or kayak shuttles in to the Dead River for the low water releases. Daily whitewater rafting trips can be arranged through our P&S rafting company on the Kennebec, Dead, or Penobscot rivers. In the winter, ITS 86 & 87 run into our front yard. Available at Inn By The River are fully equipped Snowmobile Rentals, year 2000+ Skidoo and Arctic Cat. All rates are daily and include insurance and helmet. Please call for current rates. A $1,500 damage/security deposit is required and fully refundable upon return and inspection revealing no damage of the sled. Rental clothing, suit, boots, and mittens are available. On special evenings we offer a selected entree and complete dinner in our dining room. You may make reservations the previous evening. Your Children are welcome.
